What is a Cacao Ceremony?
Many of us rush through our days as if we are in a race. We live disconnected from the natural world, our true purpose in life and our soul's mission.
A cacao ceremony is an opportunity to pause, reflect, receive wisdom and reconnect with our purpose. Mama cacao guides you on an inner journey to clear the fog within, allowing you to see in which direction you need to go. A cacao ceremony serves as a powerful tool for personal transformation, healing, and community bonding. Ceremonial cacao is also known for its mood-enhancing properties and ability to promote feelings of love and connection. Each ceremony is different, but the common theme is heart opening and expansion.

What many of us come to know as chocolate is worlds apart from the plant medicine it's made from.

What Happens During a Cacao Ceremony?
Judit provides a nurturing and safe space to ensure that you can fully experience and benefit from the session. She prepares the cacao you will drink with lots of love and respect, and follows the protocols learned in her trainings with Deya from Cacao Amor and Tata Izaias from Lavalove.
In a Cacao Ceremony led by Judit, we sit in a sacred circle, ceremonially drink cacao honoring the spirit of mama cacao, the ancestors who have passed down the knowledge and traditions of cacao, mother earth and the nawal of the day. And then we allow mama cacao to guide us to an elevated meditative state. Druming journey, guided visualization, Sound Healing and oracle cards are also part of the ceremony.
When sourced thoughtfully and prepared with intention, cacao is a potent medicine that brings us to a profound state of connection with ourselves and the world around us.
A Cacao Ceremony is a profoundly uplifting and transformative experience of harmony, oneness, peace and love.

My Teachers
My heart overflows with gratitude for the invaluable knowledge and wisdom imparted by my teachers. I strongly believe in the significance of learning from reputable sources when sharing sacred practices that have endured for centuries. It is an immense honor to have received teachings from trustworthy and genuine mentors, enabling me to provide the utmost quality to those who participate in my ceremonies.
DEYA
Ecuadorian Medicine Woman. She grew up consuming Cacao prepared by her grandma in Ecuador. In 2000, she moved to the UK, but it wasn't until 2012 that she had her first cacao ceremony experience during one of her travels to Mexico. After having a powerful heart-opening experience, she knew that she had to dive deep into the world of cacao ceremonies and studied with several teachers in Mexico. She has been facilitating ceremonies and trainings since 2014. She is the founder of CacaoAmor. Since 2019, she has been exporting ceremonial-grade Cacao from her homeland, collaborating with a local cooperative and supporting the biodiversity of the crops through their work, while also contributing to the expansion of the Medicine of Cacao in the Seven Directions. - In the spring of 2021, I successfully completed Deya's "Thriving In Your Alignment with Cacao & Ceremony" training, which introduced me to the captivating realm of this nurturing plant medicine. Immediately following the conclusion of my training, I began offering Cacao Ceremonies to others. |
TATA IZAIAS
Izaias Sajvin Mendoza was born and raised to an indigenous family in San Marcos La Laguna, Guatemala. Izaias performs traditional Mayan Cacao Ceremonies in Guatemala and worlwide. He is a Mayan Daykeeper (Shaman) who has been studying cacao and working with cacao since he was a child, and is working to preserve the traditional language, customs and heirloom cacao species. He also performs traditional fire ceremonies, as well as Mayan calendar readings through the Nahuales, following the traditions of his ancestors and his inherited lineage. He is the founder of Lavalove. - In March 2023, I had the privilege of studying with him in Guatemala, delving into the art of cacao ceremonies and Mayan Cosmovision. I captured this photograph during our training while visiting a cacao farm. It was an awe-inspiring day, where he conducted a profoundly beautiful and transformative ceremony amidst the enchanting cacao trees. |
Cacao Ceremonies have been around for thousands of years, originating back to Mayan and Aztec traditions in Central and South America, used for spiritual, medicinal and ceremonial purposes for inner awakening and creative guidance.
The Mayan Calendar and the Nawales
During my training in Guatemala, I had the opportunity to learn about the Mayan Calendar and the Nawales. The Mayan Calendar and the significance of the Nawales are complex and profound concepts that require time and dedication to fully comprehend. I am currently in the process of deepening my understanding, but I am happy to share the knowledge I have acquired so far.
In each Cacao Ceremony I facilitate, I briefly discuss the Nawal associated with the day. While I may not have complete mastery of the Nawales, I offer insights and information about their energies and symbolism. This provides a starting point for participants to connect with the spiritual forces at play and cultivate a deeper appreciation for the Mayan Cosmovision.
Sharing the wisdom of the Nawales in the context of a Cacao Ceremony can enhance the overall experience, allowing participants to tap into the ancient wisdom and traditions of the Mayan culture.
What is a Nawal? According to Mayan Cosmology, the Nawal is the Spirit or the Energy, the strength which animates the different days.
The Mayans believed that each individual is born under a particular Nawal, which influences their personality traits, strengths, weaknesses, and destiny. The Nawal associated with a person's birth is considered to be their guiding force throughout their life, shaping their path, purpose and spiritual journey.
